After a large-scale restoration and renovation took place, since 1992 the building has served as a five star, exquisite and luxurious hotel, offering accommodation to a wide variety of national and international dignitaries and celebrities. History details how there was an emphasis on governmental and political heavyweights, such as William of Orange, Maria de Medici and mayors like Van Thijn and Polak. Nowadays, however, the range of celebrities is even wider, with pop stars such as Robbie Williams, Destiny’s Child, Grace Jones and Michael Jackson listed as previous guests. Even the current international business and political elite feel at home at The Grand. Particularly memorable was the stay of Jacques Chirac. Marriage Chamber
The décor of the Marriage Chamber, in the colours of gemstones, is a hymn of praise to love and Marriage. The magnificent frescoes and stained-glass windows, created by Chris Lebeau in 1926, portrays scenes of married life.
Bordering a balcony which overlooks the garden, this “listed” room is set aside exclusively for private events. On regular basis, in true and faithful harmony with the past, civil marriage ceremonies and private dinners are held here.
