The Weddingparadises.com - interview with:
Jennifer Dobrijevic, Diva Weddings & Events

In which year did you start your wedding planning business and which reasons made youstart working in this job?
I started my business in officially 2008. In my previous job I found I was always taking on the role of planning the social events, as well as assisting friends plan their weddings and it gave me great satisfaction. Ultimately, there is no happier day than a couples wedding, and why not be with someone on the happiest day of their life?

Do you work alone or in a team?
I always work in teams. You never know what can happen so I like to make sure there is always someone to back me up, just in case!

In which languages can you take care of your customers?
My clients are primarily English speaking, however I have worked with couples of Oriental descent, and can accommodate French, Spanish, Greek, Italian and Portuguese through my team members.

What are the main regions where you are planning weddings?
Our regions are limitless, and we can go anywhere your imagination can take you. As a certified Destination Wedding Planner, as well as a TICO certified Travel Agent I can assist in all areas.

What are your personal favourites regarding:
a) a location for a destination wedding in your home region?
The Niagara region with it’s vineyards is spectacular, otherwise I would have to say Haliburton and Muskoka cottage countries are stunning as well.

b) a location for a destination wedding in the rest of the world?
I’m currently in Providenciales Turks & Caicos and it is absolutely stunning!

c) a location for a wedding reception in your home region?
There are so many great venues, it’s impossible to choose just one!

d) a location for a wedding reception in the rest of the world?
Beaches Turks and Caicos has many great locations for receptions, in particular, the deck outside “Schooners” restaurants offers a chic Miami vibe, with the back drop of the ocean, and the most stunning sunset!

e) a country / region / hotel for a honeymoon?
The new Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma Bahamas is a fantastic honeymoon spot! The water is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, every suite boasts a butler, and it’s romance at it’s finest! It’s the perfect place for newlyweds to start off their marriage.

Have you organised weddings for prominent people?
Unfortunately I can’t comment, my clients come to me for my discretion.

Have you organised weddings for couples from outside your country?
I’m currently working with a couple from the United States, however the majority of my clients are Canadian.

Which strengths of your company would you like to mention?
At Diva Weddings & Events we work for you, to make your vision come to life. Whether you want a grand 500 person affair, or an intimate gathering of your closest family and friends, we will make it happen.

Could you tell us a little story about something special that you have experienced during your work as a wedding planner?
Every wedding has it’s unique moments, but one bride in particular managed to get her very nervous father to perform a very intricate choreographed Father-Daughter dance, and the crowd went wild! It was fantastic!
