In which year did you start your wedding planning business and which reasons made you start working in this job?
My wedding planning business are new, as a company (started 2010) but I have more than 20 years experience in the hotel, event and travel industry. In my last position as a General manager in a resort Hotel "Hinitsa Bay" I organized more than 1000 events form 20 to 1000 persons. The reason that made me decide to start my own business is that, I felt ready to have my own company, since I have all the experience required ( I worked in London at the Royal Festival Hall in the Catering and Function departments for several years, with the Hilton company, in Greece in various Hotels as a General Manager) and finally I worked in New York and I obtained a Master's degree in Hospitality form NEW YORK UNIVERSITY (NYU).
Do you work alone or in a team?
In the company, we are two persons right now but when we get bigger event, we have a stream of co-ordinators, who are
working part time ( upon our needs) and those people are experienced event, travel or hotel persons who have a steady job and subsidize their income working with us.
In which languages can you take care of your customers?
English but if there is a need for an other language, we can always accommodate that need by hiring a translator or a guide
What are the main regions where you are planning weddings?
Cyclades (Santorini, Mykonos, Amorgos islands) North Aegean (Lesvos,Chios,Samos islands) Crete, Rhodes,Skiathos, Skopelos, Ionian Sea (Kerkyra, Kefalonia, Lefkas islands ) and of course mainland in beautiful locations such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Porto Heli, Monemvasia and Pylos which is a new wedding destination.
What are your personal favorites regarding:
a) a location for a destination wedding in your home region? Santorini island
b) a location for a destination wedding in the rest of the world? New York
c) a location for a wedding reception in your home region? Sphinx restaurant in Santorini
d) a location for a wedding reception in in the rest of the world? Blanchet Flowers restaurant
e) a country / region / hotel for a honeymoon? Greece/ Santorini/ Andronis Luxury Suites
Have you organized weddings for prominent people?
Although I have not organized myself weddings for prominent people, I have had prominent people staying in the various hotels I worked for as a General Manager. Those people, were the Prime Minister George Papandreou, ex prime minister Costas Simitis, Dora Bakogianis, her father Konstantinos Mitsotakis as well as some ministers. Also while I was serving as a General Manager in Hotel Hinitsa Bay the ex King of Greece used to visit the hotel and meet all the reporters there. Also I have accommodated several people from his environment. For sure I have accommodated a lot of business people (shipowners, moto company owners and other well off people).
Have you already organized weddings for couples from outside your country?
Yes, we have organized wedding for couples outside form my country - Americans, Austrians, English.
Which strengths of your company would you like to mention?
I believe my international experience is an advantage towards to my competitors as having worked abroad in London and New York for 7 years, made me able to work with different cultures and people. Therefore I would be able to understand and
cooperate my clients better than anybody else.Also having worked with VIP's clients I know, how to treat them and meet their expectations.
